Rank PTAB experts by case experience or win rate for the retaining party role you select.

PTAB Expert Rankings helps you compare experts who have appeared in PTAB patent cases. Use it to identify experts with substantial experience and compare their results from the perspective of the retaining party.

PTAB Expert Rankings can rank experts by:

  • Number of Cases
  • Win Rate

The ranking is based on the retaining party role you select: Patentee or Patent Challenger.

This makes it useful for evaluating both the depth of an expert’s PTAB experience and the outcomes associated with the side that retained the expert.

  • Which experts have appeared in the most PTAB patent cases?
  • Which experts have the strongest win rates for patentees or patent challengers?
  • Which experts have experience in a particular technology area?
  • Which experts have been retained by a specific party?
  • How does a particular expert compare with others under the same criteria?

PTAB Expert Rankings measures expert experience or the results associated with the retaining party in qualifying PTAB cases.

When Number of Cases is selected, the ranking reflects how many matching patent cases the expert has appeared in.

When Win Rate is selected, the result reflects qualifying case outcomes for the side that retained the expert. It should not be interpreted as an outcome attributed solely to the expert or as a measure of the quality of the expert’s testimony.

Use case volume alongside win rate when comparing experts. A high percentage based on a smaller set of qualifying cases may represent a different level of experience than a similar percentage based on a much larger case history.

Use the controls on the left to focus the ranking.

Available criteria include:

  • retaining party role
  • technology center
  • retaining party
  • a specific PTAB expert
  • filing date of petitions

Switch between Number of Cases and Win Rate above the results table to change the ranking measure.

Changing these filters changes the expert population and cases represented in the ranking.

Each row shows the expert’s rank and name together with the measure used for the selected ranking.

Use Number of Cases when experience and frequency of appearance are most important. Use Win Rate when you want to compare qualifying case results for experts retained on the same side.

Expert names are linked so you can continue into the expert’s Docket Navigator profile for additional research.

PTAB Expert Rankings describes historical experience and case outcomes. It does not measure the quality, credibility, or persuasiveness of an expert’s work and does not predict the result of a future proceeding.

Win-rate comparisons are most meaningful when experts are evaluated using the same retaining-party role, date range, and other filters.
